中心市街地では、コミュニティに配慮した住環境の実現が図られました。そのいくつかで取り入れられているリビングアクセス型住宅は、リビングが共有スペースに面することで、人が「いる」ことを住人たちが認識することを目指したものです。また、地域との繋がりや避難路との連携から、一階に通り庭が設けられていることも特徴の一つです。
During the recovery phase of the process of the city’s center, the architects discussed how to sustain and rebuild communities. They planned and constructed buildings, always with a high degree of respect for and with care of the surrounding environment. A case in point is “Living-access type;” Each living room of the housing faces the common space. It enables the residents to easily recognize others living there and to hopefully increase neighborly communication. In addition, a street courtyard which is constructed on the ground floor will be the evacuation route of local citizens in emergency situations.

- ３棟から構成され、通過交通の多い中央の棟は、北側廊下とする一方で、両脇の２棟はリビングアクセスをフロアごとに互い違いに設けることで、フロアごとのコミュニティ形成だけでなく、上下階でも気配が感じられるように工夫がされています。
2018年グッドデザイン特別賞受賞。
Tenjin public housing units
It consists of three buildings; The central building which many people pass through has a north-facing hallway. In the other two buildings, floors have “Living-access type” alternately to promote each floor’s residents interaction. It also helps residents recognize the existence of others living in both upper and lower floors. These housing units won the award of the Good Design Special Award in 2018.

- 市街地の方形敷地に44の住戸が整備されています。それほど面積が大きくないため、住棟間の隔離をとることが難しい状況の中での住棟配置でありながら変化のある外部空間と落ち着いたプライベート空間が街に溶け込んだデザインになっています。
2018年グッドデザイン特別賞受賞。
Omachi public housing units #1
The buildings which consist of 44 housing units are constructed on a square space design, at the center of the city. The site would normally not be large enough to provide adequate room for all these buildings, but through careful design planning the architects arranged building placements to bring a workable harmony and the landscape of various aspects of the buildings, while successfully making the housing units the part of the town. These housing units also won the award of the Good Design Special Award in 2018.
